Domain RegistrationA domain name can make or break a business - particularly one that relies on it's online presence or has an online store. We often get asked about which are the right ones to choose, so here are a few simple tips to remember.

Firstly, you need a domain name extension that looks professional. Always choose a TLD (top level domain) - this excludes the newer extensions such as .me, .mobi and .eu. UK businesses should generally aim to get a .co.uk domain name. This looks professional, and you will also earn brownie points with Google, as they are better able to target your location as a UK business.

Next, it is wise to consider the keywords your domain name includes for the sake of keywords. There is a balance here however, as you also want a domain name that is catchy and easy to remember. For a simple rule, imagine repeating the domain name down the phone to a customer. Is it easy to dictate? If it includes punctuation or a mispelling then it may pose problems for people trying to find it. Thirdly, know have us register the domain name for you. It is important to register domain names with the right providers and with the right details. Search engines penalise domain names that are purchased from proviers with offshore details, or domain names without the correct technical data.

Give us a call and we can research the market to find you a domain name that works best for your goals.
